How to Support Missions

As a church, Newport Coast Lighthouse (NCL) strongly believes there are several ways you can support missions, and we have made it easy for you to get involved.  In general, there are three ways you can support missions: called to go, called to pray, called to send.  We encourage you to pray and seek the Lord as to how He would have you be involved in supporting missions.

A. Those who are called to go:

“For the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for edifying of the body of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:12)

Short-term mission trips are a great opportunity to reach out to other cultures and further the kingdom of God, but they also build up the individuals who serve on the short-term mission trip.  Our vision is to send out teams to other countries to work alongside established missionaries, pastors, and local churches throughout the world.  When someone serves on a short-term mission trip, they will be edified and built up, but they will also bring back to their local communities what the Lord taught them.

If you are considering participating in a short-term mission trip, please follow the link to our Interest in Missions form.  Print the form and fill it out, being as honest and truthful as possible (this will help us design the strategy for the mission trip).  Please bring the completed form on a Sunday morning or Wednesday night and hand it to Pastor Kenny.  Please do not mail the form, forms must be delivered in person.

B. Those who are called to pray:

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”
(Ephesians 6:18)

When sending out a team, prayer takes priority over every aspect of the mission trip.  At NCL, we believe prayer is one of the most important weapons we have.  All of our mission trips are covered in intercessory prayer.  We believe it is important to come together as a team and pray for the outreach, the place we are going, the individuals on the team, and those the team will encounter on the trip.  We also believe it is important to have a prayer chain interceding for the team.  We encourage family, friends, and church members to organize a 24-hour prayer chain for the duration of the mission trip.  If you are interested in praying for a NCL mission trip, please sign up for our 24-hour prayer chain.

C. Those who are called to send:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” (Matthew 28:19)

Although Jesus has called all of us to the great commission, some are physically unable to go but desire to be involved by financially supporting a mission trip.  NCL believes that a person who gives a prophet a glass of water is worthy of a prophet’s reward.  You can tithe your financial support on a Sunday morning or you can mail it to NCL:

Please attach a separate note designating your financial support to a specific mission trip or to General Missions.  If you designate to General Missions, the NCL leadership will distribute the support according to God’s direction.
