Jesus, the Life Changer

Good morning NCL family,
If ever a man spoke God’s truth with authority, it was Jesus. It has been said that the scribes spoke from authorities but that Jesus spoke with authority. When Jesus finished his message to the multitudes on the Beatitudes, Matthew recorded this, “That the people were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes” (Matthew 7:28b-29). As we venture through the gospels, we see that when Jesus spoke everyone was astonished.
In Luke’s record of what happened after Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, he wrote, “Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region. And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all” (Luke 4:15). Just after this, Jesus went into a synagogue in Nazareth where He was handed the book of Isaiah, He opened the book, He found the place where it was written:
“‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.’ Then He closed the book and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, ‘Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.’ So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth” (Luke 4:18-21).
Jesus spoke with the authority and the power of Heaven and when the people heeded His Word they were healed! Sunday morning you, also, will marvel as we see Mark’s account of when Jesus began His Galilean ministry in a very special message, “Jesus, the Life Changer” (Mark 1:16-39).
Please pray about inviting an unsaved friend to church so that the glorious Gospel can change their life!
